Anette Åkerlund

Anette Åkerlund is a musician specializing in flamenco and gypsy music. She was born in Finland. She started to study classical piano at the age of eight years.
She holds a Master of Music (MuM) exam from the Folk Music Department of Sibelius Academy. In her master’s thesis she researches the vocal techniques in the flamenco singing.
Anette has danced and sang flamenco from the beginning of the new Millenium. She also accompanies her flamenco singing with piano. She has studied flamenco singing in Barcelona in the Flamenco Department of Esmuc (Escuela Súperior de Música Cataluña) in Spring 2014 and in Sevilla and Madrid in Autumn 2016 with with Rocío López Boquerita and Sonia Cortes and with Esperanza Fernández in CAFS (Centro de Arte y Flamenco de Sevilla) 2010-2011 and in Fundación Christina Heeren in 2009. She has studied flamenco dance in Barcelona with Alegria Suárez and in Sevilla with Juana Amaya, Manuela Rios, El Oruco and with Farruquíto and La Farruca.
She has teached flamenco dance and singing and Gypsy music since 2012. She has also given various workshops in the Roma and folk music festivals, where she has performed in the Nordic and Baltic contries, Hungary, France, Slovenia, Spain, India and USA.
